NOTE: This reference was found in a collection of notes from research done in person at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in 1982, before any information was known about the Raun parents. These notes are apparently about the death/burial of Nels Petersen Raun, which match the cemetery information below. Only a brief transcription was made of the death/burial from the Church records at the time; there may be more information in the record. Also, the church records may contain his wife's death as well.
CHURCH OTHER: O-CHO-0002

Raum, Nels, b. unknown d. 1911 Laurel Hill Cemetery, Omaha, Douglas County, Nebraska, USA
Raum, Rosimoil, b. unknown d. 1919 Laurel Hill Cemetery, Omaha, Douglas County, Nebraska, USA

NOTE: Per an email dated 24 Mar 2005 from Betty Orme < bjorme2001@cox.net > regarding the above burial notations, she wrote:
Pat, This is all the info I have:
Nels was age 73 and was buried 1/20/1911 [Calculates to born about 1838]
Rosimoil was age 81 and was buried 11/19/1919 [Calculates to born about 1838]

They are buried in Section 6 Row 19 Nels in grave 21 Rosimoil in grave 22 For Rosimoil, they have it listed as Mrs. R. Raum then Mrs. Rosimoil Raum in parenthesis.

I see that you are in Indiana. I can make a special effort on my next trip to that cemetery to get a photo of the stones. My latest "project" for that cemetery is to get pictures of all the stones and get them added to findagrave. During this process, I have found misspelled names and unlisted burials. The cemetery is small and walkable for searching for stones. They do not have an office on site for inquiries so it is a good thing it is small. I have gotten requests for checking the cemetery for burials from people who are certain their person(s) are buried there and not listed. Unfortunately, this cemetery has suffered vandalism several times. Some stones are broken, missing, sunken and buried, if stones were placed at all. The current caretaker is a volunteer and he has uncovered and reset several stones. Most cemeteries have sections ranging from low cost to high cost. Section 6 is in the mid range. So most likely, the burials have stones or had them at one time. If you are still interested in having me take a trip to the cemetery to get more current information on these two burials, please let me know and I will move the names to the top of my list for photos. Regards, BJ Orme.

DEATH:

BURIAL: These burials probably refer to Nels and his wife. Found at Find-a-Grave
< http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gsr&GScid=100886&GSln=raum >.

CENSUS:

1840 - Denmark - She was not found in the online census indexes at Dansk Demografisk Database: Internet website: < http://ddd.dda.dk/kiplink_en.htm >. There are some possible entries for Bjerre District [herred], Vejle County [amt], but none seem to list a Rasmine Hansen or Hansdatter with parents from her baptism record.

1845 - Denmark - She should be listed with her parents, but she was not found. This census is possible:
NOTE: One entry in the 1845 census shows an 8-year-old Rasmine Hansdatter in Klakring Parish [sogn], Bjerre District [herred], Vejle County [amt], as an "adoptivdatter" [adopted daughter] living with Hans Severin age 45 and Birthe Cath. Rasmusdatter age 52. There are other possible entries as well. The census records are found on the internet at Dansk Demografisk Database: Internet website:

NOTE: There are no online census indexes available as of 7/2006 for years after 1845 for Klakring Parish [sogn] or Skjolde [sogn], Bjerre District [herred], Vejle County [amt].
