BIRTH: Data from death record of son, Conrad Ewald Ludwig Jürgensen [H-CHD-0008]. His death record says that he was 73 when he died in 1810.
MARRIAGE: Church marriage record; 1738-1772; Evangelisch-lutherische St. Marien Kirche, Lübeck, Copulations-Register; no 25/1769; Archiv der Hansestadt Lübeck, Lübeck, Germany.
According to the 1850 death record of Conrad Ewald Ludewig Jürgensen in Gundelsb˙e, his father, Ludwig Gustav Jürgensen, was born in Swedisch-Pommern [Swedish Pommerania] in 1738. (He died in Lübeck in 1811.) Between 1648 (the end of the "Thirty Years War") and 1815, Sweden controlled the western portion of Pommern. Without a specific place name, locating a record of his birth could be difficult.
The occupation of Gustav Ludwig Jürgensen as given in various sources was:
1766 Lübeck Citizenship Register -- Kramer
1766 Lübeck Oath Book -- Seiden Krahmer
1770 Baptism of his son -- Nehden Krahmer
Taken together, these titles suggest that Gustav was a small, retail merchant or peddler (Kramer) dealing in silk (Seiden) and needles [?] (Neden) and perhaps other sewing items.
