LETTER: Letter dated 31 Jan 1982 from Norman Hellmers to Miss Lillian Hubbell, researcher, St. Louis, MO, regarding her research there on the Crossmyer families and her assistance in learning that some of the Crossmyer families moved to Detroit, Michigan, he stated:
The Detroit connection proved to be most important. I telephoned Clara J. Crossmyer of Detroit area and obtained some more cludes. Miss Crossmyer was very cooperative. She was able to give me the following information:
Her father was Elmer R. Crossmyer. Her uncle, Wilbert, had indeed married a woman named Julia, but she did not know when or where, or what Julia's maiden name was. Apparently after 1907, Wilbert and Julia Crossmyer moved to Torrance, California. There were no children. Julia died while in California, date not known. Later Wilbert was seriously ill (gangrene, leg removed). He eventually married his nurse. Wilbert died not long after 1953.
