Note: Herr Bruno Nickchen said that Maria Elisabetha Appel died on 2 Dec 1780 in Reichenbach, and that Heinrich Göttel then married Maria Elisabetha Hafner (born 23 Oct 1750 or 1752; died 9 Sep 1811).

An undocumented source says that his parents were Johann Jacob Göttel and Anna Sara Rumfeld and his grandfather was Peter Göttel.
