003209 - Leonhard - Jacqueline Terry Leonhard, a journalist, pioneer in Hospital Public Relations, social
activist and former President of the Orleans Parish School Board, died in Hammond, Louisiana on Monday,
April 12 at 3:40 a.m. She was 86 years old. Mrs. Leonhard was born in Hominy, Oklahoma. She attended the University of Missouri, studying journalism. She moved to New Orleans during WWII, working as a
Reporter for the New Orleans States, The States Item and The Times Picayune. She was elected to the
Orleans Parish School Board in 1948, Serving as its President from 1948-1954. Mrs. Leonhard was one of
the State's first Public Relations Practitioners, and specialized in Hospital Public and Community
Relations. She was married twice, first to Robert A. Mccullough and then to James F. Leonhard. She is
survived by her children: Louanne Mccullough of Richmond, Virginia; Terry Mccullough of Houston, Texas;
Jamie Leonhard Haeuser of Robert, Louisiana; and Jaclyn Leonhard Mckenny of New Orleans. She is also
survived by brothers: William, Gene and John Terry, and by a sister Joanne Terry Cothern, and by
numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral
service at Schoen Funeral Home, 1414 S. Tyler Street, Covington, Louisiana at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April
14, 2004. Visitation on Tuesday, April 13 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Wednesday, April 14 from 10 a.m. to 11
a.m. Interment will immediately follow in the funeral service at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens, Covington,
Louisiana. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to Children's Hospital, 200 Henry Clay Avenue,
New Orleans, Louisiana, 70118 or to the Tarahumara Children's Hospital Fund, 4904 Clearview Parkway,

M and Fannie Rutherford and 4 other children, including Gertrude 13, Don 6, David 3, and Hardy 1. H.
