DEATH: Cemetery inscription; Evangelisch-reformierte Kirche Bentheim; Tombstone (photograph).
Note: Her death is recorded in the death records of the Evangelisch-reformierte Kirche Bentheim. The record indicates that she died on 3 May 1868 at the age of ten years.Notes:
Johanna Bertha Feige died at the age of 10 in Bentheim. The circumstances of her death were described by Hein Schlüter of Bentheim. His great-grandmother (1856-1946) and Bertha often played together. They lived near each other and they played around a well that was near the "Gericht," the courthouse at which Bertha's father, Johann Heinrich Feige, was the clerk of court and in which the family lived. Near the well there was apparently a sandstone "gate," two stone columns topped by a sandstone lintel. While the girls were playing, the stone lintel fell on Bertha and killed her immediately. Hein Schlüter noted that this event apparently was a memory his great-grandmother lived with all of her life. The tombstone for Bertha is one of the few preserved in the churchyard of the Evangelical-Reformed Church in Bentheim.
Notes:
He was perhaps born in or was from Kassel, according to Max Christoph Naumann.
Johann Jurgen Feige and Catharine Margarethe Lindemann were never married.
Catharina Lindemann later married Wilhelm Schrader.
