New Orleans (Orleans Parish) Louisiana
Church Records

Church records are an important source of records of births/baptisms, marriages, and deaths/burials. Confirmation records are also frequently available. In 19th century New Orleans, the predominant religion was Roman Catholic, but almost every other denomination then in existence was represented in the city.

Catholic church records - The original historical church records of New Orleans are held by the Archives of the Archdiocese of New Orleans. The earliest records (1718-1831) have been published in 19 volumes.
