Ronald Michael Chapoton
passed away on Thursday, November 3,
2022, in Hammond, Louisiana, at the age of 79. He was born on Monday,
October
4, 1943, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to the late Eura and Wallace
Chapoton. He
was a resident of Ponchatoula, Louisiana.
Ronald is survived by his
wife, Ruth Clement Chapoton,
children, Mitchell (Jill) and Douglas (Amanda) Chapoton, grandchildren,
Jack
M., Julia E., Sally A., Ian D., and Brynne R. Chapoton; and Ruth's
children
Harold (Vickie), Cindy (Russel), Colette (Sean), Christie (Craig), Alan
(his
late wife Lisa), Gregory (his late wife Kathy), brother, Patrick
Chapoton
(Doris), nephew, Glenn Chapoton (Leslie), as well as many other grand
and
great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 55
years,
Myra P. Chapoton; parents, Eura and Wallace Chapoton; as well as his
sister,
Marion Gremillion.
He graduated from
Nicholls High School in New Orleans and
went on to graduate from Tulane University with a BS in Finance where
he played
football and then earned an MBA from UNO. He was a financial planner
where he
served clients and friends for more than 40 years. He was a huge fan of
Tulane
football, active in all things political, and a passionate history
buff. Later
in life, he found joy in a new hobby of watching and taking care of
purple
martins. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and
friends
especially his 5 grandchildren attending numerous sporting events,
dance
recitals, school functions, and weekends at paw-paw's.

Son Funeral Home, 100 W. Magnolia St., Ponchatoula, Louisiana 70454 on
Thursday, November 10, 2022 from 9:00 am until 10:30 am. A Funeral Mass
will be
held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 255 North 8th Street, Ponchatoula,
Louisiana 70454 on Thursday at 11:00 am, with Fr. Paul McDuffie
officiating.
Entombment will follow at Rose Memorial Park Cemetery in Hammond,

After graduation Ron attended Tulane University on a football
scholarship.
In 1962 he and Myra Pellandini (Nicholls Class of 1962) were married.
In
October 2008 they celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary.
Ron earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Tulane
and
his master’s degree in business administration from the University of
New
Orleans. He worked with several local companies, and in 1980 received
his
designation as a Certified Financial Planner. With the help of Myra,
who
has a bachelor’s degree in computer science, Ron opened his own
financial
planning firm. Today, he still operates his business from an office in
Kenner.
The couple has two sons, Mitchell and Douglas. Mitchell, the older,
teaches
Latin and Greek at Jesuit High School in New Orleans. He and his wife
Jill
have three children. Douglas is a partner in a Baton Rouge law firm. He
and
his wife Amanda have one son.
Ron and Myra live in Hammond with their three basset hounds, Fletch,
Louie,
and Joey. Their grandchildren occupy much of their time, and they would
not
want it any other way.
