Jessie Dixon married Joe Tillis on June 9, 1962. Jessie worked for an insurance company in New Orleans until becoming pregnant with her first daughter, Terri. They moved to Chalmette in 1965. Jessie became a stay-at-home mom, and it wasn't long before their second daughter, Tracy, was born. Jessie and Joe are now the proud grandparents of Joe, Amanda, and Abbie. Their newest treasure is great-granddaughter Ava.

Jessie and Joe built three homes in Chalmette over the forty-year period they lived there. Their dream home, which was destroyed by Katrina, was finished a couple of years earlier.

Jessie worked as secretary/office manager for a construction company in Chalmette. She had been there more than 20 years when Katrina abruptly changed the lives of everyone living in that community.

Jessie and Joe are now living in Covington and enjoying retirement. Decorating projects keep Jessie busy, as does planning the couple's long anticipated trip to Europe.
