Carlinda Goussen has returned to Marrero after living in Turkey. She had accepted the chance to see a bit of the world and had lived with her daughter and son-in-law during his overseas tour of duty.

She’s the mother of Elizabeth, 43, who is herself a mother and an office manager; William, who is 43 and teaches at Bonnabel High School; and James, 32, who works in construction. Added pride comes with being grandmother to three girls: Amber, 18; Piper, 5; and Zofia, 4.

Carlinda stayed close to the city all her life, having lived at various times in New Orleans, Slidell, and on the westbank. Although now retired, she still dreams of her future and hopes one day to see both Italy and Ireland.

She and Nicholls classmate Gail Forschler (Catoire) have remained best friends through the years.
