BIOGRAPHY
Carol Ann Marsh Boe

Although they attended the same schools since seventh grade, Carol Marsh and Don Boe officially met on the telephone when he called her sister Jackie, who wasn’t home. They were juniors in high school. The next year they were the Class of 1961’s president and vice-president. They are still a team.

Married on October 21, 1961, they were parents on November 29, 1962, when daughter Cheri, who is now 46, was born. Parenting came naturally to Carol and Don who went on to raise four more: Kelli, 44; Don Jr., 43; Kristi, 30; and Michael, 28.

Carol’s work was at home where she was a full-time mother with her brood. When their children gave them grandchildren, Carol kept them during the day. There were 10 of them. A great-grandchild will arrive soon.

Don went to work at American Marine Shipyard and was there several years before becoming a member of Asbestos Workers Local #53. Now retired, Don does enjoy fishing.

Don and Carol have lived in the city all their lives and have no plans to leave. A run-in with Katrina sent them to a daughter’s home in Slidell for several months while Don worked to see their home’s flood damage repaired. Don said if it floods again perhaps they should leave. “I asked him where he was going,” Carol said. “I plan to be in New Orleans until God decides it’s time for me to go.”
