In 1966, Arethusa
Katherina Watts (1908-1989) compiled a history that she titled:
Seedlings of the Ehler
and O'Brien family tree from Dearborn and Ripley Counties Indiana.
Ms. Watts gathered family stories and genealogical data on the ancestors and
descendants of William O'Brien and Rosanna Ehler and wove a fascinating
narrative of these families.
Caution: Since Arethusa's narrative is often based on family
traditions, there are elements of the story that are questionable and
some that are clearly in error. As much as possible, researchers should
use her narrative only as a guide and should seek out original sources
to support any information that they might want to include in their own
histories. On the positive side, there is much information in her narrative that is available nowhere else.
Seedlings (PDF file)
The original version of Seedlings included 14
pages of narrative and 15 pages of family data. The family data has
been omitted here since the names of many living persons and their birth
dates are included and it would be inappropriate to post this data
online without their permission.
A copy of the entire document is available
through FamilySearch. See:
