Sources Genealogical relationships and data on individuals must be supported by evidence, which is provided by a variety of sources. These sources include church and civil records of births, marriages, and deaths, cemetery records, obituaries, censuses, city directories, ship passenger lists, and similar records. Many of these sources are included in the "Notes" within the ancestor and descendant pages. The notes also include information on where the original record can be found, such as a library or archives. Some of the sources have been saved as scans or transcriptions of the original records. These sources have been placed into one of the categories in the table below. Some of these types of records have not yet been used for the Wegener family. Where they have been used, click on the appropriate category to find the exact record that was referenced in the notes. For example, a record might be identified as W-CVB-0001. The "W" means that this is a Wegener family record. The three letters refer to the type of record, in this case "CVB" refers to a Civil Birth record, and the number is an arbitrary number given to each individual record. To find this record, click on CVB below and find the record identified as wcvb0001. In some cases, there are multiple files, identifed as a,b,c, etc. It is intended that in time, all of these Wegener sources will be made available online. Some of these files have not been compressed for the Web and are very large in size and could take a while to download. You are welcome to download and save any of these files for your own use. The records are in a variety of formats, including pdf, jpg, tif, and doc files. Please let me know if you find that a source is missing, mislabeled, etc. norm.hellmers @ gmail.com |
