The first history of St. Paul Lutheran Church was written by the Rev. G. J. Wegener in 1889, a copy of which was placed in the cornerstone of the newly constructed church building. The history, previously unknown, was discovered inside the cornerstone in 1989 in anticipation of the 150th anniversary of the church. The opening of the cornerstone coincided with the 100th anniversary of the church building on September 13, 1989. The history was handwritten by Pastor Wegener in German. A translation was prepared by Brigitte Pfeiffer, and can be found here.
